The results of Scaglione’s efforts far exceeded the expectation and imagination of anyone at Alfa Romeo. The new design, known as the 33 Stradale, was a true masterpiece. It was (and still is to this day) considered one of the most beautiful vehicles ever created. Only 18 of the 33 Stradale were ever produced.
In the mid-1960s, Autodelta relocated to Settimo Milanese – closer to the Alfa Romeo plant, but most of all to the Balocco test track. The first Tipo 33 frame designed by Alfa Romeo came to the Autodelta workshops in 1965. It has an asymmetrical "H" tubular structure, made of aluminum alloy, with internal integral fuel tanks.
Alfa Romeo CEO Jean-Philippe Imparato promises the 33 Stradale will not be the brand's last special car as additional highly bespoke models are planned. Sounds like Alfa would built a real 8C successor in future. Long hood Alfa sport car is their true iconic, so it does make sense to happen.
